Greetings Everyone!
All Ye Noble Music Collectors Well THIS is a good week. Yes, indeed-ee. Why is that, you might ask. EMI just announced massive lay-off’s, the blogs are all ranting and spewing about what is or isn’t wrong in the music business, the death of retail and the demise of the CD format. Stores are closing here and there. Well I tell you, we ain’t going anywhere and there’s not a dang thing wrong with the music itself because we have a new national release from the amazing Tyler Ramsey of Asheville. We got an eye-opening rocker from Liam Finn a second generation Finn of Split Enz, Crowded House and Finn Brothers lineage thanks to the unstoppable crew at Yep Roc Records. Right now I’m listening to the new Julian Bream. Nothing wrong with any of that. Bottom line? We need more good music and less corporate dumbness and wasteful greed. Or we’ll just buy and sell used stuff ’til the cows come home. What’s the best thing about being a wholly owned independent family business not aligned with any coalition and sitting on our own property? We can do what we want how we want. What we want is to connect you with some good music. Blog that, yo. Tell Billboard Magazine and Wall Street Journal I’m available for interviews.
Just for today we are your feisty independent music store, so come see us.
Next up: Walter Hyatt, Cat Power, Chris Walla (Death Cab boy solo), Drive-By Truckers, Josh Ritter and a lot more.
Matt is back from creative writing in Pennsylvania.
Aaron heads back to Brooklyn NYC for a week of seeking.
Luci is here and I’m on the pavement thinking about the Government.
Robo-admin stand-in Mr. Crazy, stays mostly at his desk deep within the Horizon vault doing various store support duties and replicating Dr. Morgus science projects for Luci's amusement.
