WELCOME TO OUR NEW WEBSITE
WELCOME TO OUR NEW WEBSITE!
Its beautiful day in the neighborhood and Horizon Records has just re-launched our spiffy new web site. Are we having fun or what? Yes, we are. One of the best things about this web site is our ability to discuss, promote, feature and highlight current and historic music performers and their recordings from the Greenville and western Carolina area. To me, this most exciting. Not the least of which is a world class new release on beautiful vinyl LP (yes it’s a record release, nope there’s not a cd) from Rocket Number Nine Zoom Zoom Up-see the blog on our site by drummer John Byce. This trio of Greenville guys has dropped an astoundingly hip Jazz and electronic tinged instrumental monster. If you like Medeski, Martin and Wood, John Scofield, or Tortoise, try this one. I assure you I’ll be playing it in-store twice a day until and beyond their concert and LP release party here next Saturday April 19th at 3pm.
While visiting our new site check out the Local Scene Map feature. This project is our pride and joy. Please know also that it’s a work in progress (as is the entire web site!). Explore well known and overlooked
musicians all from, by, or tying to roots in the Upstate area. Many thanks are due to our mighty H-Team: Paul and the Guys at Portland Studios, Joel Wilkinson our graphic guy and webmaster deluxe, and Aaron Berger who whooped
up on web store action and map research. I could now go on about the ultra rare Captain Beefheart Dust Sucker import LPs we just got in or my recent obsession with a 2003 Leo Kottke Instrumentals CD collection or perhaps I could rant and foam at the mouth about the unimaginable beauty of the latest Daniel Lanois CD and DVD called “Here Is What Is”. In fact that title could be our new slogan (to go with our motto: “We’re Still Here”).
Lastly …DON’T FORGET the remarkable solo bass performance and talk we’re having here on Saturday by Timothy Pitts in celebration of his appearance this weekend with the Greenville Symphony. This Prelude In B in-store is free. Call The Peace Center for tickets to the Symphony Concert 864-467-3000. or visit www.greenvillesymphony.org
That’s it. Y’all come see us.
