Further explanations of deviations in music
Frank Zappa once said “Progress is not possible without deviation from the norm”. Well if that be the criterion, then we should be progressing around here lately. Maybe we have!! New website launched 2 weeks ago. New newsletter rolled out this week. Just posted some snazzy new blogs on that site to deviate you from the stuff you’re supposed to be doing. As well, I think most of our recent feature CD artists wouldn’t argue their deviancy either. Billy Bragg, well yeah. Portishead, same. Jonathan Richman has gloriously avoided the norm for about 3 decades (and we are so grateful). Then there is the late great Frank Zappa himself now deviates the norm splendidly as his son Dweezil Zappa releases the ZAPPA Plays ZAPPA CD and DVD this week. Last but not least, is BOMBADIL who will be deviating the norm with a FREE CONCERT in HERE THURSDAY at 4pm in celebration of their delightfully not exactly norm music is out now on BUZZ a BUZZ their new CD.
Further explanations of other deviations in music have been posted to the blog section of our site as John Byce reviews and rants around the Destroyers latest and Andrew Gilstrap touts the advantages of those beloved deviant emeritus rockers The Replacements and their 4 new re-issues. Next week we’ll be posting the first episode in Aaron Berg’s Free Music and travel journal series called Love & Coffee, and the irascible blogger and rocker opinion monger Racer X will issue a concert review or two.
For now we urge you to visit Horizon Records and shop through our thousands of music deviations on CD, LP, DVD and in BOOKs. It’s springtime down south and the rains have made things go heavenly with lush green foliage and bright blooms everywhere. Porch Season is now officially open…Time for more music. Come See Us!
