Passings: Chris Gaffney & Sean Costello
Chris Gaffney, Southern California roots rock musician, died Thursday, April 17. “Chris performed for three decades in Southern California, recording several acclaimed albums with the Cold Hard Facts. Along with touring in Dave Alvin’s band, the two friends wrote several songs together. Most recently, Chris achieved international recognition with the Hacienda Brothers. Chris was a great friend to music and to all who knew him.”
Blues singer, guitarist and composer Sean Costello died on April 15, 2008, in Atlanta from undetermined causes. He was 28. Costello, a blues musician since age 14, played with musicians including B.B. King and Susan Tedeschi and was in the middle of touring to support his latest album, We Can Get Together. Born in Philadelphia and raised in Atlanta, Costello received his first record deal from Susan Tedeschi just before his graduation from high school.
