Horizon Announces Economic Stimulus Program

by Gene

Horizon Records, in an effort to help this great country of ours would like to announce that we do accept money that was originally part of your economic stimulus check in payment for music products we have in stock. Indeed we further assure you that your hard earned economic stimulus dollars have their maximum effect right here (unlike Wal-Mart and the like) as we strive to keep all our inventory comprised of American made CDs, LPs, and Stuff. Virtually none of our products are purchased from China or non Fair-Trade countries. Exchanging your money here for new and used CDs, LPs, DVDs, and Books shows the evil corporate and multi-national and big box greed mongers that indie retail matters and that we in Greenville are know good music when we see it. That’s why we know you’ll want to check out this weeks new releases from banjo and cultural ambassador Abigail Washburn & Sparrow Quartet (ok, she’s been to China and speaks Mandarin), Bonnie Prince Billy (he’s from Chicago), Sonny Landreth, John McLaughlin (they play some serious guitar) And YES we have the new Charles Hedgepath CD (he’s from Greenville and if it’s got strings he plays it). I myself will be posting  a coffee induced, over the top, better-late-than-never, rave review of Herbie Hancock’s River:The Joni Letters CD – man o man  have you heard Herbie and crew featuring Tina Turner scorch through Joni’s “Edith And The Kingpin”? Then there’s Orchestra Baobab’s latest Made In Dakar, and they are from Senegal and release their stuff on World Circuit/Nonesuch Records (one of the hippest corporate things out there, yo).

Not only are all these healthy economy inducing new releases ready to roll we also have the latest blog and Free MP3 track from the wandering troubadour and beat maker Aaron Berg. We also have posted some theater reviews from our man in Jazz journalism George Kanzler and lastly we got a big ole blast of a free in-store concert Friday at 4pm when Hoots & Hellmouth rock the Café. So stop in here and shop through the kinda stuff you won’t find just anywhere and bask in the knowledge that we are in this together and together we can do what is not nearly as much fun to do alone. Music IS medicine. Let it rain. please.
