The only thing shaking is our backsides

by Gene

Financial markets are shaky; the news is full of it. Down here on the corner at Horizon Records the only thing shaking is our backsides as we stock out the snarling, rocking new Hold Steady, the funki-fied new jazz jams from Jeff Coffin and bristling steppin’ grass new cd from Drew Emmitt (featuring I must add, the slamming drum work from our Carolina home boy Jeff Sipe who by the way will be bringing his trio in here Tuesday July 29, Aug 5 &12). In other unrelated but important news, yesterday was Woody Guthrie’s birthday and I got an email announcing that The Avett Brothers our rompin’ stompin’ on a tear pals from Concord NC just signed with Columbia / American Records label and the legendary producer guru Rick Rubin is recording their new CD right now. I lift my coffee cup (the one with Goofy all around it) and say here’s to them, and to Woody Guthrie’s dreams, the spirit of Hold Steady and the sound of Jeff Coffin’s saxophone call

Don’t forget we are bringing on the free music events here all the time: every Tuesday night is DJ vinyl spins with DJ Kutter and Marcus, Rocket Number Nine next Tuesday starting at 9pm after the DJ action, then July 29, Aug. 5&12 Jeff Sipe brings his Knoxville Trio AND Tuesday July 22nd at 4pm Hayes Carll does an in-store preview set for his Handlebar show and tout his righteous new CD “Trouble In Mind”, and then Mic Harrison & The High Score Band rock the joint here Friday August 8th at 4pm to celebrate their new CD and that’s the way to start your weekend. Now and during all that sonic event-a-lation we at Horizon Records will be sorting and stocking as much new and used home entertainment software as we possibly can, everyday. Come take a look at the CD-Records-DVDs-and Books; safe, long lasting, many are recycled, pre-loved, no animals were hurt in bringing them to you. Something for everyone. All you got to do is

COME SEE US.
