In other unrelated but important news, yesterday was Woody Guthrie’s birthday and I got an email announcing that The Avett Brothers our rompin’ stompin’ on a tear pals from Concord NC just signed with Columbia / American Records label and the legendary producer guru Rick Rubin is recording their new CD right now. I lift my coffee cup (the one with Goofy all around it) and say here’s to them, and to Woody Guthrie’s dreams, the spirit of Hold Steady and the sound of Jeff Coffin’s saxophone call
