Well y’all, last week was largely about the splendor of the pickin’ (Yo Jerry Douglas) and songwriter side of roots things with cds from Darrell Scott, Loudon Wainwright III, and uh Jerry Douglas (what an in-store, thanks everyone!). This week it’s very much on the Blues and Funk tip with brand new goodies from JJ Grey & Mofro, B.B. King (produced by T-Bone Burnett), Little Feat, Lil Ed & the Blues Imperials, and Charlie Musselwhite. Man yeah! The music business may in turmoil and down slide as the industry is running around crying Chicken Little, but the blues are alright and have never been healthier musically. The blues are never out of style and sound real good on a scratchy old record or a brand new CD or played live like when SCRAPOMATIC hits town to play at The Handlebar Wednesday night at 8:30 and do their sneak pre-view in-store set right here at 4:30 when we tape a taste of ‘em for WNCW-fm’s Tower Of Song show. What is Scrapomatic? Well it’s a  soul blues drenched mish mash of  everything from Delta sounds to rock riffs lead by the duo of Derek Trucks vocalist Mattison and his singing partner Olsen and backed by guitar guy Dave Yoke and our bass and drum pals Ted and Tyler previously of Codetalkers and Susan Tedeschi fame. Yessir all good.

And please do ask us about The Future Of The Blues CD compilationyes it’s only $8.98. Yes it’s so good you’ll play it twice in a row as you feel so smart and satisfied for making a stunning purchase, beating the system by shopping at a local retailer, discovering a bunch of real live blues artist you didn’t even know about that rawk severely and just plain getting down and funky for cheap. And that’s why we’re here. …Come see us.
