Howdy neighbors, we’re local and we’re here for you.
Yes indeed things are still a bit crazy out there. Take heart in that we’re all in this together. Then remember there’s a gas station across the street here on our humble corner that seems to have a supply most of the time, so far. When you stop here it’s very efficient because we have lots of cheap stuff to feed your inner shop-aholic beast and there’s a nice café in our building called The Bohemian Café to handle that part of you that needs a bit of relaxing. Grab a simple coffee, beverage, snack or full on meal without moving your car. Plus don’t forget we are only 4 blocks from central downtown district, so heck how good is that? Plus we got the best used CD and LP selection in the state making your precious dollars go way far ( as opposed to go far away). The vibe is low key so you can enjoy the therapeutic value of shedding some of that CNN fueled stress. If that isn’t enough we have a run of FREE In-Store concerts (yes I said FREE) all lined up for you. The Bohemian Café has a slew of their own concerts scheduled, generally 2 or 3 nights a week also FREE. There. That’s our bail out plan — same one we’ve had for years: Great music for cheap, righteous food and beverage, FREE parking and FREE concerts, all at no extra cost to the taxpayers. To vote for that all you have to do is come see us. You’ll be glad you did and we’ll be grateful.
Thanks.
And sadly: bye bye Paul Newman. We love ya pal.
And here’s a literary note from my friend and crazed fellow indie record store owner Don Radcliffe who holds court daily in his shop Ella Guru in Atlanta:
Second sadly: “James Crumley. Just happened to see this yesterday. Fans of hard-boiled fiction know him, surely. Author of the very few opening lines of a novel I can quote, from The Last Good Kiss: ‘When I finally caught up with Abraham Trahearne, he was drinking beer with an alcoholic bulldog named Fireball Roberts in a ramshackle joint just outside of Sonoma, California, drinking the heart right out of a fine spring afternoon.’ I’d have just quit after that one.”
Rave on Don! —Gene
