Derek Trucks: Already Free. Enjoy it, and play it loud!

Recorded in the newly-built studio in the backyard of Derek’s Florida home, Already Free captures a band reveling in the comfort and intimacy of its surroundings. Whether due to the setting, the help of family members (both nuclear and honorary) like Susan Tedeschi, Doyle Bramhall II (Eric Clapton) and Oteil Burbridge (The Allman Brothers Band), or perhaps just that otherworldly musical connection between the six men of The Derek Trucks Band, Already Free is a clear and powerful document of a band in its creative prime.
As Derek puts it, “this definitely feels different than any record we’ve ever done,” a sentiment brought into focus from the very first ominous bars of the Bob Dylan gem “Down In The Flood,” a rendition that sounds both entirely unlike the original, and entirely unlike anything dTb has recorded before. “I think the music feels more realized, and I believe this will be on the list of two or three of the great records we ever do as a band.”
Whether you’ve been counting the days until it arrives at Horizon, or if you’re just learning of the band and the music now, we are proud to announce that Already Free is now available.
For a little extra music, and a few extra bucks in your wallet, head to Horiozn Records to purchase Already Free with three exclusive bonus tracks -– “Ballad of the Chicken Robber,” “Swamp Raga,” and “Long Time Man” -– each recorded in the Already Free sessions and never released to those of us on this side of Derek’s home studio walls.
Enjoy it, and play it loud!
