The Handlebar has played host to jazz greats before: from Maynard Ferguson to David Sanborn, from Pat Metheny to Bela Fleck. But Preservation Hall Jazz Band delivers the taste, feel, heart, soul and sound of New Orleans — from ragtime to Dixieland to funeral marches. From the French Quarter, to Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center, performing for British Royalty or the King of Thailand, Preservation Hall Jazz Band is the joyful, timeless spirit of Crescent City jazz. The band began touring in 1963, performing with the pioneers, Buddy Bolden, Jelly Roll Morton, Louis Armstrong and Bunk Johnson. The current lineup carries on the tradition and follows in the footsteps, playing masterfully with the same awe-inspiring talent that pays tribute to the originals. All in the intimacy of The Handlebar: A Legendary Room. The salute to New Orleans doesn’t stop with the music. Join us early for a special menu that includes Gator Bites, Blackened Salmon Salad, Cajun-Style Shrimp & Grits, and Bourbon Chocolate Pecan Pie.
