I just love music & hope you do too. Thanks to one and all, far and wide.
The economy is still in pain but it ain’t stopping the music. Many, many artists and bands we like a lot have released CDs and LPs in recent weeks (or re-issued a favorite classic) and that’s good. See the list just below for a sample roster of incoming goodies this week and of the past two weeks. We have a giant box of our all too rare T-shirts in 2 styles — get them while we got them. AND this Saturday we do our annual YARD SALE and its RECORD STORE DAY (even our Governor, cough, cough got on the band wagon and declared it so for the state of South Carolina).
What a mess but what a blast we’ll be having! Markdowns, office clearing, under bins emptying, last call, where did this stuff come from bargains inside and outside (rain or shine). PLUS STOREWIDE Sale discounts on all used stuff top to bottom all categories all formats. AND we will roll out a slew of Record Store Day only limited edition releases from a wide variety of labels and bands (lots of amazing LPs, and 45s). Many of these items are sold out of production even as they arrive at the record stores so it’s grab ‘em while we got ‘em. Plus we have boxes of absolute freebies just for showing up. Samplers, 45s, grab bags, buttons and more.
BUT WAIT, just as the first wave of early shopping and collector frenzy eases, we kick off an afternoon of live music in The Bohemian Café. The Jaywalkers, Afromotive, and then Culture Prophet spins his DJ magic to close out the afternoon. Whoa. We are still open until 10pm and the deals roll on to closing time. It’s really all about us saying thank you for your kind support all these 34 years of Horizon action and suggesting that America in general wake up to the fact that independent music retail is a vital part of our culture and our community. We have heard from many past and present customers and musicians renowned and unknown both in their support of record stores like Horizon. Even Bobby Steele of the legendary Misfits punk band called to say hello and keep rockin’ and to say he sent a box of his current CDs, LPs and 45s to support the cause.
Again, Thanks to one and all, far and wide. At the end of the day, I just love music and hope you do too.
Come see us.
