Jack White, Dead Weather, Dylan, Willie, Mellencamp, and our pals The Wiyos

by Gene

“Phases and stages — circles and cycles, scenes that we’ve all seen before.
Let me tell you some more.”
—Willie Nelson

“These are the times that try men’s souls.”
“I love the man that can smile in trouble, that can gather strength from distress, and grow brave by reflection”
—Thomas Paine

Well Well. It’s another email blast. I’ll keep it fairly brief as I really must go sort and price those gorgeous John Coltrane LPs we just took in, and then play the new Dead Weather, again, real loud.
Please notice we are having a couple of raffles to benefit a family that was hit hard by that drowning incident a few weeks ago. Horizon is selling tickets to win an Edwin McCain signed acoustic guitar in support of the surviving family of 8 year old Eric Sebastian who tragically drowned along with his aunt and uncle. His parents are both employees of The Bohemian Café who also is having a couple of raffle fundraisers to assist.

In the good news department we are absolutely thrilled to announce that SCOTT MILLER has agreed to do a free in-store performance here Wednesday August 12 at 4:30pm. It’ll be a solo acoustic set and Scott will be bringing songs from his new CD For Crying Out Loud as well his signature raw intense passionate Southern songwriting and captivating live presence. And of course Mr. Bob Dylan, Mr. Willie Nelson, Mr. John Mellencamp, and our pals the Wiyos will be playing a concert together (go Wiyos!!) at Heritage Park Amphitheater in Simpsonville, Wed, July 29. To celebrate this momentous occurrence Horizon is having drawing for 2 pair of FREE TICKETS. Just stop in a drop your name in the box, you never know. Since Dylan and Willie are headed this way I thought it would be good idea to stock in some extra items from their massive catalogue of releases. To start you off in the right direction we have selected Willie items priced right at 8.98 and some Dylan stuff handpicked from his gigantic roster of offerings. To make all things clear about where I stand I posted a Gene Speak video, yeah scary I know but look out.

Lastly, a modest request: if anyone out there has a couple of unneeded old record crates in the peach crate style that are available to be adopted by Horizon, call me or simply bring ‘em by. We are just a few short of what we need to finish off our spiffy new VINYL VAULT room; might even be willing to trade a used cd for said crates.

That’s it – y’all be nice.
Come SEE us.
