INFAMOUS STRINGDUSTERS play here & The Handlebar this Friday, new Spoon, Eels, Danny Barnes
Greetings oh Noble music lovers,
Another week in this silly unpredictable music business and the independent labels continue to show us the way by releasing a wealth of interesting new music for the start of this decade. This week it’s Spoon (those quirky rocking guys from Austin Texas on Merge Records straight outta North Carolina) , and Eels next missive End Time (from the secret and mysterious worlds of Mark E), and we are blessed with another Danny Barnes (the unchain-able, genre blending songster formerly of The Bad Livers), there’s also the hip-hop majesty and beats and pop from the artist known only as RJD2 and last but not least we are digging the new 2 FOR 1 priced double CD from The Hollywood Blue Flames — vintage and unreleased gems from this legendary west coast blues collective. Just say yes! To help you just say yes we posted the lowdown on the Blue Flames right here.
And MOST IMPORTANTLY: we are wound up with anticipatory excitement as Friday is the day The INFAMOUS STRINGDUSTERS are playing Greenville. They will do are in-store preview set and CD signing right here at 4:30 pm as a set up for unleashing the full power of their concert show at The Handlebar at 8:30pm. Don’t miss these guys. Virtuosic, acoustic, modern bluegrass based blast of American music, including but not limited to folk, country, swing, blues and jazz. Mercy it’s good. As my old pal Russ Jordan said once a few years ago when introducing the Tony Rice Unit, “these guys plow all the way to the fences”. I say, amen.
That’s it.
Oh yeah I almost forgot, the legend, the philosopher, the pop seer Jonathan Richman has picked up a gig at The Handlebar Monday Feb 8. We all need to support that. We have tickets, we have a nice selection of his charming CDs and Shelley is out of control with excitement, just ask her about it!
Come see us.
On deck coming soon Galactic, Midlake, Reckless Kelly, Josh Rouse.
