BOTTLE ROCKETS, new JOHNNY CASH plus FREE POSTERS, CAROLINA CHOCOLATE DROPS lay it out. It’s Johnny Cash’s Birthday, how about that!

by

My Fellow Americans,
February 26th is (or would have been) JOHNNY CASH’s 78th birthday. The moving and final sixth installment in his astounding American Series is out this week. Our Carolina pals Scott and Seth Avett play on the title track (yo Avetts!). The BOTTLE ROCKETS bring their own uncompromising brand of American rock, twang and roots to Greenville on FRIDAY (the 26th!). So come on in here and enjoy an acoustic set HERE at 4:30 and then catch them in full BLISTERING GLORY at The Handlebar at 9pm. Wear black in honor of JOHHNY. Great roots music American and global is a big part of our featured releases this week as well. The high lonesome-down low growl of DEAD STRING BROTHERS, the willow-y folk beauty of JOANNA NEWSOM, the African- American ethno-folk energy of CAROLINA CHOCOLATE DROPS, gospel jams in the GOOD GOD! DOWN HOME FUNK collection, acoustic shimmery-ness of BASSEKOU KOUYATE, and the meditative outerspace-innerdialogues of chamber folk from BALMORHEA. All good, all different all here for you.

In unrelated but further music excitements, our WORLD BEAT listening posts from both PUTUMAYO and ROUGH GUIDE CDS are updated and stocked up with amazing music of all styles and genres from every corner of this globe. Stop in, put on the headphones, listen, dig it, and take home some sounds.

Random thought # 1167: JIMI HENDRIX “Band Of Gypsies” absolutely ROCKS. OK, I’m done, as always

COME SEE US.

Note to those that live in this general area know as The North End of downtown Greenville: be a part of something! Check out the upcoming events in the STONE AVE MASTER PLAN and VISION process. Mark your calendars.
