NEW JACKSON BROWNE & DAVID LINDLEY – SAGE FRANCIS – THE DEAD WEATHER

by

Jack White the Renaissance man for all sessions (to badly mix 2 cliches) is back with THE DEAD WEATHER “Sea of Cowards”. The highly successful and beloved White Stripes is not enough. The also highly successful and beloved Brit-Rocking-centric Raconteurs is not enough. A Christmas week release of rock-umentary “It Might Get Loud” with his pals Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin and The Edge of U2 wasn’t enough, so now he’s back with a second Dead Weather release. YES it rocks, Yes it is loud, and yes we have it on CD and LP.

It’s a great week reason #2: JACKSON BROWNE has just released a stunning live double CD “Love Is Strange” documenting a series of concerts in Spain where in he reconnected with is old music partner and one of my all time favorite musicians ever (as is Jackson Browne) the elusive Mr. DAVID LINDLEY. It is magic. Jackson’s voice is sheer beauty still. The songs are drawn from a loaded pantry of great tunes reaching back over 40 years. Mr. Dave “El Rayo X” is resplendent soloing on and playing anything and everythin [Edit Image] g with strings. Add in select guest shots from a host of Spanish music friends. Magic! If that still isn’t enough , one of modern music’s hip hop innovators SAGE FRANCIS offers us an ear opening glimpse of some new directions he’s headed in a kaleidoscope of words, beats and sound – “Li(f)E” — very very cool. Me, I’m still happily stuck in a MADLIB addiction. His Medicine Show series CDs: Vol.3 is a Afro-beat/Psyche/Funk mix, Vol.4 is a crushing Reggae Dub Jamaican mix, and most especially the CD MILES AWAY is a 56 minute tour of a Madlib Jazz fusion future sound project- Funky, smart, retro familiar and new all at once think Miles Davis is alive and come back from a DJ lab. This Madlib is possibly busier than Jack White. When do these guys sleep?

Lastly we have dubbed our new Monday Night in-store series MONDAY NIGHT REVIVAL (until we or you think of something better). Blues, folk, ragtime, jazz swinging J. MICHAEL KING & The Catfish Po Boys this Monday May 17 at 8pmv. It’s Free. We are on the corner stop in drop a nickel tap your feet, Kinda like that Creedance Clearwater Revival song.
