YES, Yes, Yes,
So much music, so little time. Summer time is the right time for digging indi music (to paraphrase the blues tune). Small labels are bringing the harvest in as usual. So much diversity and amazing stuff to listen to. I want personally to shout out recent Americana releases from KEVIN WELCH – Patch Of Blue (I say Kevin is tha man. Well he is!) , then there’s The STONE RIVER BOYS – Love On The Dial (remember our pals the HACIENDA BROTHERS?) plus a very cool tribute to JOHN PRINE: Broken Hearts & Dirty Windows. There’s also LEONARD KAAGE & the KIN from Sweden via Florida, Blues from ELVIN BISHOP and his pal Red Dog, Funk from ORGONE California’s secret weapon mass funk destruction, and the latest edition from the one man cottage music industry known as MADLIB and his Medicine Show series. Then there’s upcoming gems by CHATHAM COUNTY LINE and PETER CASE getting ready to land from the roots scientists at Yeproc Records. These are the kinds of releases that we really care about. That are lovingly recorded, packaged and brought to us by a host of small record labels out there fighting the good fight. Record companies such as Yeproc, Ubiquity, Bloodshot, Drag City, Bloodshot, Delta Groove, Oh Boy, Howdy Skies, Acony, Daptone, Tompkins Square and many many more. Some are bigger than others; some are basically the artists themselves. That’s it Just a gene rant as a salute and a tip of the hat — recognition and solidarity. We all need that eh?

Come see us.
